What began in our kitchen with a tea kettle and a raw hat body has grown into a careful, time-honored craft.

Each Scharmen hat starts with a raw hat body - 100% beaver, 100% rabbit, or a 50/50 blend - sourced from a traditional millinery that still values quality over convenience.

From there, Ford hand-blocks every piece, shaping, steaming, and pressing it to form. The brim is cut and trimmed by hand. The crease - whether a classic cattleman’s, teardrop, fedora, or something entirely your own - is shaped to fit the individual.

Each hat is then finished with a hand-sewn leather sweatband, a tailored or heirloom hatband, and subtle detailing that makes it unmistakably yours.

No templates. No shortcuts. Just true craftsmanship from start to finish - built the old way, made to last a lifetime.

What We Offer

Fully Custom Hat Builds

Every custom hat begins with a raw felt body and is shaped entirely by hand to your specifications.

You’ll select:

• Felt type and weight

• Color and finish

• Crown shape and height

• Brim width and edge style

• Sweatband and hatband details

Each hat is finished with a sewn-in leather sweatband and final fit adjustments as part of the custom process.

Consultation & Guidance
